Einhornhexe (Unicorn Witch)
Meret Oppenheim & Friends
March 21 – July 26, 2026

In 1932, at just eighteen years of age, Meret Oppenheim traveled to Paris, where several of her Swiss artist colleagues, including Jean Arp, were already firmly established within the circle of the Surrealists. Through them, she came to know Man Ray, Max Ernst, Alberto Giacometti, Leonor Fini, Dora Maar, and Marcel Duchamp.

In Paris, Oppenheim developed a distinctive visual language that would leave a lasting mark. After her return to Switzerland in the late 1930s, she influenced a younger generation of artists, among them Daniel Spoerri and Dieter Roth.

In the exhibition Einhornhexe (Unicorn Witch) – Meret Oppenheim & Friends, not only Oppenheim herself but also her close companions are prominently represented, bearing witness to the far-reaching influence of this singular personality, who is now regarded as one of the most important artists of the twentieth century.
